Auto Express is one of the UK’s leading motoring / automotive titles both online and offline. Updated throughout the day, AutoExpress.co.uk is a site for the latest motoring news and reviews, ensuring visits from both loyal users likely to buy a car once every two years; and those simply researching their current car purchase. They have launched an all-new van channel on autoexpress.co.uk, in partnership with insurance experts’ Direct Line for Business. Launched in 2007, Direct Line for Business provides a range of insurance products for the small business sector direct by phone or online – an ideal sponsorship partner for the ever expanding Van market.
Auto Express Vans will be targeting the UK’s growing commercial vehicle market – something we have been targetting at Wheelwright since noticing the uptake in 2011 – in fact, the market is still growing, up 7.6% in the first half of 2013. The site is set to play host to a mix of reviews, news, advice and videos.
The partnership with Direct Line for Business will see Direct Line for Business advertising, content and a prize draw run across the site over a six-month period.
The van channel launches with over 48 reviews covering the entire market including Auto Express’s recently crowned Van of the Year, the Ford Transit Custom, plus reviews of increasingly popular pick-ups. Auto Express Vans will provide buying information for prospective van owners as well as advice features for business owners looking to make their next commercial vehicle purchase. In support and celebration of this launch, Direct Line for Business will be running a prize draw to win a Citroen Dispatch van, worth over £17,000.
James Burnay, Managing Director of Dennis Motoring, said: “We’re delighted to be launching Auto Express Vans. There is a real thirst for good quality, honest reviews on vans and the Auto Express van channel will give users the information they’re looking for.”
“Direct Line for Business is a fantastic fit for Auto Express Vans and we’re thrilled to have them as a launch partner. We’ve worked closely with them to add value to the Auto Express launch, help raise awareness of the new content and aid the user experience.”
Jasvinder Gakhal, Head of Direct Line for Business has clearly seen a strategic partnership: “There’s a huge cross over between what Auto Express readers want and what Direct Line for Business can offer, so the partnership with Auto Express Vans is perfect for us. It has been a pleasure to work with them to create a campaign that will offer added value to our existing customers and those generally interested in the van content. We’re particularly excited about the Win a Van prize draw, which we think will appeal to current and potential van drivers in the right way, just as they are looking at purchasing around the plate-change in September.”
We have certainly noticed the growth in this van market, particularly amongst SMEs – commercial vehicles are no longer reserved for the fleets of couriers, delivery networks and roadside recovery; but even the most nimble of independent businesses can find a use for a commercial vehicle. When this can double up as mobile advertising, we find customers like to customise and ‘smarten up’ their purchase with some commercial van alloy wheels – currently this represents around around 14% of our total alloy wheel sales (with over 5,800 van alloy wheels sold in the past 12 months alone). We can certainly see this van site being of great use to an ever-expanding market.
